Christ Church George is a Bible-believing church family in Loerie Park, George. We put God’s Word above all things and are committed to the preaching of the Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ alone through expository preaching and teaching of the Bible.

We are a growing family who together seek to know, love and live wholeheartedly for the Lord Jesus Christ, grow in Christ through God’s Word, and overflow with the truth, love and grace of Christ to all people.

Our vision is to see God’s mission being fulfilled in George and overflowing to the rest of the Garden Route.
What we believe
We are part of REACH-SA (formerly CESA), a family of evangelical Anglican churches in South Africa. We hold to the authority of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and the call to make disciples.
- The Bible is God’s Word and our final authority for faith and life.
- Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died for our sins and rose again.
- Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
- The local church gathers to worship, hear God’s Word, and love one another.
- We are sent to share the Gospel in George and beyond.

Our pastor and leadership
Rev. Shawn Hunter has pastored Christ Church George since 2009. He is married to Michelle and they have three children. Together with our Church Council and ministry team, Shawn is committed to seeing God’s people grow through His Word by His Spirit.
Esther Visser serves as Children’s Worker (joined December 2023), with Josh serving in Teen Ministry. Council members include Robert Van Niekerk (Rector’s Warden), Everett Montague, Peter Lyne, and Tim Kuiper.
Church life in George
Beyond Sunday gatherings, we offer Kids Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Growth Groups so people of every age can know Christ and grow together.
